RAGBRAI Update
Here are the
rules for those who rode RAGBRAI with HBA last year:
1. You have to be a member of HBA by December 31 (the previous
year) to go with
the club on RAGBRAI the following year. Do not send your membership application with your RAGBRAI application. If you are not a member it is too late.
2. There must
be separate RAGBRAI applications for each person. (More than
one application can be mailed in the same envelope.)
3. Any unsigned applications will be returned to you. You must sign the HBA
Bus Application as well as the Register's RAGBRAI waiver.
4. The cancellation fee this year is $20.00 until April 30th and
$40.00 afterwards. The remaining fee will be refunded when we are able to
sell your spot. This fee helps cover costs and effort
associated with reselling the passes. It also helps us make sure we sell our
allocation of passes to members who are serious about going on RAGBRAI with
HBA. We would rather sell our allocation
by the middle of February to members who expect to ride with us rather than
to sell out in a few days and have a large number of returns.
Here are 5 easy steps to
insure you are considered for the HBA RAGBRAI bus:
|
1 |
Print a copy of the HBA Bus Application and completely fill it out

|
2 |
Print a copy of the Register's RAGBRAI waiver, sign and

4 |
Make your check payable to Hawkeye Bicycle Association
for
$285 (this includes the
$125 fee for the Des Moines Register).
If you purchased any RAGBRAI products with your online group
registration (step 3 above), then add that amount to your
$285
check. |
|
5 |
Send the HBA Bus Application
(from step 1), RAGBRAI
waiver
(from step 2), and a check
(from step 4) to:
Dick
Woodward
3041 Circle Hill Court NE Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402-3420
Please: do not send your
HBA Membership Renewal
to Dick Woodward. |

Important Notes:
Completing
the on-line Register form does not automatically get you a wristband and
HBA accommodations. On-line registration eliminates a lot of paper
shuffling, postage expense and the frustration of reading poor
handwriting. The club is allotted 60 rider wristbands and those are
given as described in the bus application rules. Those who went last
year automatically have their seats available to them until February 15. All applications are due at my house by February 15. The earlier,
the better. The deadline for sending applications to the Register is
March 1.
If you are technologically challenged, please ask a
family member or friend to help you with the forms. The Public Library
also offers computer access. If you have no other alternative, contact
me
at 319-362-9890.
